Lesions from acne can appear as small bumps, pimples, blackheads or whiteheads. More severe cases can cause hard and painful nodules or cysts that can lead to scarring. Acne typically occurs on the face, but can also develop on the chest, back, buttocks and legs. We may also believe that this is just a problem for teenagers, but it is actually not uncommon for many adults. Teen acne can be difficult to live with and there are several things that you can do to help cure it.
1. Oatmeal can either be mixed with honey and lemon juice or with curd. These face packs can also be used as exfoliating masks. Another homemade acne treatment is to use a paste made from honey and cinnamon powder on the acne affected area. Leave the paste on the affected area overnight. Wash it the next morning with warm water and pat dry. Orange and lemon peels are some of the natural acne cures which are very effective.
2. Vitamin C is a natural immune booster and it can help to reduce the inflammation of blemishes. Foods that contain vitamin C include oranges, potatoes, broccoli, and kiwi. Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that helps with healing. Foods that contain vitamin E include almonds, sunflower seeds, spinach, broccoli, soybeans, and peanut butter. You can get more of these vitamins by eating foods that contain them or in a supplement.
3. Lemon juice/ apple cider vinegar. Clean your face every day with either solution. These will flush out pores, remove excess oil, keeps pH level and kill bacteria.
4. Place 2 tablespoons of baking soda in your hand, and mix into it 1 teaspoon of water. This will create a mixture that you can massage into the skin to remove dead skin cells that clog the pores. Rinse with water after 1 minute. This will keep the pores clear of acne-causing oils and bacteria.
5. Ice is said to be helpful in treating acne. Use an ice pack every half an hour on the acne. Leave the ice pack on the skin for about 2 to 3 minutes every time. This makes the pimple less noticeable, however it may not get rid of acne totally.
6. Lavender essential oil is another good spot treatment. Use it the same way as you would the tea tree oil. This essential oil has also been shown to calm the nerves and help people sleep, so this might be a good treatment to use at night.
