If you suffer from multiple yeast infections, you are one of about 7 million women who deal with this problem and during pregnancy, your chances double. Yeast are tiny organisms that normally live in small numbers on the skin and inside the vagina. The acidic environment of the vagina helps keep yeast from growing. If the vagina becomes less acidic, too many yeast can grow and cause a vaginal infection. If you do find yourself with such an inflammation, then the following home remedies for vaginal yeast infection may help ease the discomfort and bring about a fast resolution.

1. Baking Soda and Water: Take a mild toothpaste of baking soda and water and brush your teeth with it as commercial toothpastes are too hard and develop sores in your mouth. So what you are to do, just pour a little baking soda on your palm and add enough water to it to make a smooth paste out of it. Then, rinse with 1/2 cup warm water and 1 tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide. And most of all, do not forget to replace your toothbrush soon after your yeast infection cures.

2. Peel a fresh clove of garlic and make a little tampon by wrapping it in cheesecloth and tying with unwaxed dental floss. You may leave a bit of floss to pull it out afterward. Insert it in vagina and leave there for several hours, say overnight, and remove it in the morning. For severe infection , try this in the morning and during night both. Repeat this until one day after the symptoms disappear.

3. Wearing loose cotton allows the body to breathe and keeps moisture levels to a minimum. Yeast thrive on moisture and warmth and wearing these loose garments will help to reduce your chances of a yeast infection.

4. Cease eating foods that contain yeast. If you take nutritional brewer's yeast, stop immediately. Hold off on breads and yeast-based products like bread, vinegar, cheese and alcohol. These counteract the effects of introducing friendly bacteria because they introduce more yeast.

5. Drink at least two glasses of buttermilk a-day, whether infected or not. In fact making curds a part of the daily diet in take reduces the probability of vaginal yeast infection.

6. Bathing is the best way to eradicate some of the yeast in the vaginal area. Avoid using soap in this area, because soap does nothing to yeast. It can actually make a yeast infection worse by killing off some of the beneficial bacteria that balance out the amounts of yeast in the vagina.

7. Yogurt: Dip a tampon in plain yogurt(curd) that contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, and try to insert it into your vagina at least twice a day until and unless your infection ends up. But you have to continue this for once just for one day after the symptoms of yeast infection disappear.
